hood badge bars

#1 Post by Rich McErlean »

I am an early 911 owner and have recently bought my first 356. I know nothing about 356s and am curious to learn what color the bars in a T2 hood handle Porsche crest badge should be.

I was under the impression that the bars in the 356 badge should be orange, since this color was also used in the early 911 badges. If this is not true, I'd like to learn about the evolution of the paint colors used in the 356 badges.

Directly below is a photo of two 911 badges. On the left is a 911 badge from the 80s, on the right, a reproduction "orange bar" badge for the early 911. Beneath this photo are two photographs of a 356 hood handle badge. Is this 356 badge an original or a reproduction?

Thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich,

The red, translucent bars appeared in @ 1974????? so the one you show is likely a reproduction.

Here is an original hood handle badge from a '58 coupe
