T-1 Window winder handles

#1 Post by Paul Kust »

I asked this in the general discussion because I thought that more would see it and I would get some kind of response, at least a reply like, good luck, there is no source for these! :(

As you can guess, NO RESPONSE!

So I was hoping that those who cared about something being authentic would have a clue, anyone willing to converse on this subect!

Is this a product that would be welcomed in a reproduction to be produced?

Does anyone have a source for the ribbed T-1 window winder handle?
My car is missing both of mine.

I have found late and pre-A and the ribbed handles with the VW knobs and the proper ivory knobs for replacement but nothing ready to go without modification.

Any help would be great!

Anyone out there with an opinion that is willing to voice it?

Anyone? Talk to me! Hello?

Paul,
One of the VW vintage parts vendors makes a repro ribbed handle with the VW knob. Also there are repro "A" knobs available which could probably be attached to the VW repro handle. Don't know of any repro pre-A knobs currently available, but there have been metal repros in the past that required painting. Bottom line is I don't think there is anything "ready to go" as you suspected.

So, is the market to small for a proper reproduction?
Just how many cars in which years had the ribbed handles?
Is there anybody that has an idea of this number?
