Interior installation, hours to install?

My interest is in the number of man hours it would take to install a typical T6 interior. In my case, an interior for a Convertible "D"

This would include "everything" leather or vinyl, dash, door trim tops, door post wraps, the aluminum dash and door trim, the whole works.

Except the top and headliner. I have no headliner and the top is something else.

I know this can vary from individual to individual, because of experience, AND from shop to shop also.

Certainly I know that interiors should be pre-fit before paint, but how often is this really done? My guess is not often at all.

An invoice with "billing" hours for labor would offer a close estimation.

I'm sure there's tons of guys that have installed their own interiors. Thing is, did you keep track of your hours?

Hello Charles,

The carpet seems to always run 12 hours for Speedster & D.
Dash and rear cowl + B pillars 3-5 hours.
Door panels priceless.
And I probably spent another 5 hours compleating the various trim items.
No top yet on the D so I'll have to remove the door panels to adjust the windows to fit the top

IN A NUTSHELL IT NEVER ENDS! 25 hours +/-

I just finished putting new carpet, all new vinyl panels, dash and door panels in my T6 Coupe. Left the original headliner in the car because it is in very respectable shape. The process took me two weeks, spending some time on it each day and over weekends. I agree with the time estimates above, but my quarter panels probably took me longer as I was soooo careful about measuring before trimming off the extra vinyl. The project also included getting the vinyl back in under the door seals. I know my website is not the best, I am not at all a web guru so the site is slow to load all the pictures, but I do have some shots of this on it at www.enginesinback.com My interior was made by Tony Garcia at Autobahn Interiors. Oh one more thing- the long pieces of carpet that run on either side of the car from front to back are really tough. I suggest knee pads for this project (seriously).
