Porsche Specialty Tools listing needed

#1 Post by Dan Mazur »

Can someone point me to a convenient listing of Porsche Specialty tools for the 356 (and early 911's).

I have some pics and numbers in my B shop manual but dont have a full listing.

Thanks in advance
Dan

There was a publication available to Dealers and, for sure, "special customers" entitled Special Tool Catalog wherein only the latest versions of the tools were illustated. Unfortunately, this catalog did not show an example of tool application. The factory manual is the best place for the latter. However, many VW special tools are called out in the 356 manual and there is no illustration of the use. I suppose you just had to be..." in the business to know"

You might try Charlie White. He seems to have most everything.

There is also another publication that gives the working times for the 912 and the early 911.
Unfortunately, again, this publication assumes pretty much a new car [probably for warranty repairs] and is not much use for cars approaching/past half a century.

A laugher at best--but probably worth a lot to a collector looking for a "real" copy.

If you can get your hands onto a Porsche special tool catalog it still shows a lot of the old time stuff. Not all the items are still available and the ones that are are $$$.

The "special tool catalog' usually has a drawing of the tool,
application like 356, 911 or Boxster etc. and usually a description of
what it does. Not as good as the manual with pictures. The down side is
most of the early tools for the 356 are NLA.
