This forum approach looks to have a lot of potential, it will be interesting to see how it evolves compared to the Talk List.

Wonder about a couple of minor changes. Can we be given the ability to sort posts by date, name of poster, etc., as well as being able to alpha sort the topics? That would be of great help in keeping track of what is going on, at least for me.

Thanks again for all the effort involved in putting this together.

Tom

You can use the search function, upper right in group of links, to sort/find whatever you are looking for.

Tom, your "minor changes" are MAJOR programming modifications.

Please note the following useful features.

From the main "356Talk Forum Home" page, note the useful links at the
far right:

View posts since last visit
View your posts
View unanswered posts

Also, at the bottom of each individual forum page such as
http://356registry.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1 is this:

Display topics from previous [pulldown menu]

that allows you to filter posts by date.

John, I am aware of the search function and how useful it can be. What I am talking about is simply a matter of how to find what it is you wish to search. Being order to sort by the entries suggested (alpha posts, date, etc.) is useful for some of us.

What works best for me, is to copy the "view posts since your last visit" url ( http://356registry.com/forum/search.php ... d=newposts ) and make a links button in my links bar. Then, I just click the button in the links bar and any posts I haven't read pop up. I use this approach for several forums that I partake in. Again, works for me, and just a suggestion.

A tip to sort the wheat from the chaff.

#6 Post by John Alfenito »

Eventually, this forum will tally many posts each day. A useful way to read the threads you're interested in and skip the ones you're not is to utilize the 'View posts since your last visit' option.

It's located at the top right of the main forum page. Clicking it will open a new window with a list of all threads that have received a post since you last signed onto the forum.

Selecting the threads in which you have an interest, reading them, and then using the 'Mark all forums read' for the rest, can efficiently keep you up-to-date on forum info.
The 'Mark all forums read' link is just above the 'Who is online' section on the main forum page.

Hope that helps.

Barry, you have made it very clear that what I foolishly suggested as minor changes are "MAJOR programming modifications."

Please excuse my temerity in proposing an idea. Henceforth I'll leave such considerations in the hands of the experts like you. :)

I'm sure spending some time with the new format will resolve all these minor issues, we now return you to your regular programming.
