Lubing 356 - Grease Gun Feed Problem

#1 Post by Steve Proctor »

I have had problems with both my manual and pneumatic grease guns, e.g., after some use, there is a point where I have no flow even though there is still grease in the gun.

Is there a good procedure to start the flow again?

Thanks,

STP :D :) :o :(

Steve,

It's like a spray paint can that won't spray.
Just get real close and look into the fitting and
squeez.............it will most likely get you in the eye.
:always wear eye protection:

Probably has an air lock in the cartridge.

Sounds like an air pocket in the grease reservoir. In a manual gun, the spring that pushes the grease in the reservoir should eventually force any air through the pump section of the gun as you operate the lever repeatedly. Check that the spring that forces the piston down the reservoir is operating freely. Otherwise you may have a blockage between reservoir and pump.

Just loosen the can slightly from the pump end and allow the air to
escape. A very common problem easily solved....

Remove the Zerk fittings and clean or replace them.
