Convertible D Windshield Installation Needed

#1 Post by Dave Merz »

Looking for someone in the SF Bay Area experienced in installing a ConvertibleD windshield correctly. Been in and out of several well known shops who claim tobe able to do the job but were unsuccessful. Would like to hear from any otherD owners who can give a good recommendation and would let me look at theirinstallation as a testament to the installer's knowledge.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Keep driving 'em!

I too am worried about this... as I need to restore 86010

Word on the street is that only the later 1/4 inch taller windshield...a roadster windshield is all that is available. I have seen several recent D windshield installations... where the windshield has broken... I think they were roadster windshields though.

I am betting you already have this info... but....:

There is a factory file available on this subject on the convt. D registry website. With lots of install details. See:

http://convertibledregistry.com/pdfs/Re ... shield.pdf

there is also a registry link to installing a D windshield at:

Do you still have the original windshield that came with the car?

Be great if you did.

This would be a nice beginning in the installation of a replacement.

OK, I can go back to bed. I have learned something new today; I didn't realize that Ds and Roadsters had different windshields.
