Wiper Noise

#1 Post by Rick Dill »

This is posted for John Harvey who has put 2000 miles on his C coupe in
the last week. He isn't (yet) registered for the forum, but should be
able to read responses while on the road.
While driving through a day of rain across Iowa yesterday in my 356C, the
wiper motor developed a pretty loud "chirp".
Does anyone have recent experiences with wiper motors that can suggest
what
and where lubrication needs to be applied?
The arms still function properly with the noise and rainX allowed me to
still have some time to listen to Iowa Public Radio on my 44 year old
Blaupunkt(sp?).
I have also checked under the dash for birds.

Wiper Noise

John,

Two things, It most likely won't rain in Greeley and, introduce a bit of oil into the wiper shafts.
First remove the wiper arms, then the shaft seal and use a penetrant between the shaft and the brass housing. Next after running the wipers use a light grade of oil, clean up the mess and roll on. say Hi to Red & Rich.
