INCREDIBLY stupid question - but here goes

#1 Post by Kevin Wiggins »

OK - probably a stupid question, but I'm used to crashbox split window beetles and luxuries such as wind shield washer fluid is not relevant.

My 57 coupe (T1) has the pouch for the wind shield wiper fluid. Since I live in the Northeast and my car is in an unheated garage, water is not the best option. I'm assuming normal windshield wiper fluid is acceptable?

WHATEVER YOU CAN FIND DOESN'T FREEZE WILL WORK.

Last winter I found myself in a blizzard with no wiper fluid. All the wiper fluid was sold out, which happens around here during big storms. Purchased a half gallon of the cheapest Vodka, and it worked fine. I do worry that it may eat into some of the hoses or other parts of the system, so flushed it with normal fluid as soon as possible. The Vodka smelled nice when sprayed on the windscreen.

leave the bag EMPTY! If it leaks and why shouldn't it leak is is 60 years old! it will rot the metal under the gas tank. Sometimes the squirters will not seal and let water into the cockpit of the car. Water is your enemy! al zim

I'm with Al on this one. There should me NO water in an air cooled car. A good friend manages a large collection here in So. Cal. After a year, his by word is "I hate anything with a radiator, and hoses". And you all know why. ................................Jim.

Speaking of Air Cooled,, my ABARTH 695 is in the road. A hoot indeed.

OK Jim. Now shove a 300Lb hog in the rear seat and take it to market. I came upon this scene while stationed in Italy. The car was swerving all over and as I got up to it I saw there was a hog in the rear seat area and the wife who was in the passengers seat was swatting the hog on the snout trying to keep it in the back seat. Just about the craziest thing I have ever seen. I will never forget it. How they ever got it in the back seat of a cinquecento is beyond me.

I had a similar experience hauling a hog in the car once. I fed it a loaf of bread soaked with Vodka. It was a quiet ride.
