Wanted: 356 luggage rack

#1 Post by Russ Czura »

Hi Folks,
I was going to buy a "Carrera" style engine lid with Louvres punched into it on both sides of the chrome grille. Very expensive so now I'm interested in buying a "LUGGAGE RACK" for my Speedster. Doesn't have to be new but must be in Exc. cond. Chrome etc.
What do you have & How much? Pics would be great as well.
Thx, Russ

Make sure it has holes for a single grill car as well as the T6 mentioned in the ad. I think it does, but I am not positive.

I heard from the seller & the luggage rack shown has been sold. He does have another in even nicer cond. but it's for a "Twin Grille" car. I'm looking fir an "A" single grille rack.

Thx, Russ

Check on The Samba, eBay or one of our used parts bendors or possibly one of our members has one they are willing to sell. Since you have a Speedster, I'd suggest a Reutter or Amco rack.

Check out our Classifieds. It looks like one listed that will work for a single grill.

I have a restored Reutter rack that is adaptable for single and double grills. The four mounting tubes screw into the relevant holes in the rack, whether you want single grill or double grill configuration, and give the rack space to stand about 1/2" proud of the engine lid. Not sure if it would clear louvers if you had a louvered deck, but it works for my single grill A car just fine.

Hi Ron,
Would you be able to send me a few pics to my email address ( toysrrus1@att.net). Please advise cost as well. I live in "Pickens, SC" 29671 for shipping costs? I have to see where "Hillsborough, NC" is relative to myself. Maybe pick up?? That would be nice!!

Thx in advance,

Russ

Russ you should check it your engine lid has the threaded inserts for the luggage rack like a Porsche would, or if it is at least shaped the same so you could use nuts and washers after drilling the holes.

You can get a new one from Stoddard.

If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

The "Stoddard" rack looks great but $500.00 +?shipping, "OUCH". A slightly used one would be nice! My grille duplicates the single grille size wise etc. so, Nuts & Washers would work just fine! James W. are you selling?
