Wiper motor issues

Because the 50 year old wiring is so brittle, I am having issues with re soldering plug ends that attach to motor. New bullet connection that I bought do not fit snugly in acceptors.
Any other source for bullet connectors that are more suited to the rounder exceptors?

Because it’s winter here and garage not heated enough, things will wait to spring.

Any suggestions on this program would help

Pretty sure you can get the bullet connectors from not only our usual suppliers but probably from Y & Z and Rhode Island Wiring.

As Mike said Y&Z has them and they fit. Where did your's come from? Cold? Uff Da That is why I left. Had to when everyone wore "30 Below keeps the riffraff out" buttons. I do wish I still had that button though.

Uffda meda, as well. Don't remember the buttons, but do the 'zip to zap' tee shirts during the ABM crisis of '70, the year I moved.
I will be needing ~8 of the bullet connectors, too, and would like to know if the Stoddard/NLA connectors work OK before I order them at $1.50 each.

Stoddard bullets not round enough to hold. Tapered tip doesn’t seat well. Will try y&z

Well no matter how cold, we still have plenty of RI RAF

If you have any old harness ends, the bullets slip right off with a dab of propane touch. Be sure to slam them down on a firm bench top while still hot and grasping with pliers etc. to remove excess old solder. Makes for easier reuse.

I don't understand Ken's comment that the Stoddard NLA bullet connectors are wrongly formed. See http://www.nlaparts.com/store/wire-conn ... 21150.html for the part in question. I don't know of any problem with that part. It is specific to Porsche and not to be confused with similar Lucas and or others.

Hey Guys

I am not saying Stoddard’s bullets don’t work, I guess my application requires a tighter fit. Probably because of age. Like most us these days.
I am putting wiper assembly back in and motor looks tired. Was in the process of re soldering connection and was unable to get a tight fit with bronz tip .As you see the top half of bullets are rounder and a touch wider. Obviously the connection of bullet is important.
I would think the new ones could be spun with a bit rounder tip. IMHO

Are the diameters of the Stoddard bullets smaller? They look that way in the picture.

They just seem to bevel to the top as it gets to the tip. Obviously the tops rounder are better for conductivity.

There are 2-sizes of bullet connectors--4mm & 5mm.
Unfortunately, their part #'s aren't listed separately except one.

To clarify .... Stoddard NLA has two types of bullets in inventory.
The brass ones, p/n NLA-564-636-50, were made for the Marchal lights sold some years ago. They will work in some applications.
The silver plated ones, p/n 999-652-102-10, are current production and duplicate the original German part. This version be used for all 356/early 911 applications.
