Yes pack the low parts of the door seals at the junction between the join of the door window and the door metal part with rubber pieces as the factory advised in the workshop manual.
Crack open the rear quarter windows to aid heating and ventilation.
Drop down the rear seat back, fill the rear area with soft travel bags till the bottom of the rear window. Cover the rear area with a soft pinic rug.
Pack a picnic and go on a road trip........
You will find yourself traveling at near redline in third gear because of the smooth quietness!
Restore them like they were built and you will be keeping the faith.

Re: Wind Noise
That’s a good idea...There are some sound meter apps available for the iPhone including a professional one called SoundMeter.Jim Clement wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 12:50 pm I have a similar T1 car, and it is also noisy .. it has been ever since I owned it.
I have installed sound deadening (like fat max) , then over top of that, I put the regular sound deadening, still noisey.
It would be interesting to have a sound meter in a car, and move it around to see where the noise was coming from.
on the highway, it is difficult to talk to the passenger, although possible with a bit of a lean into the centre ..
I keep thinking for a longer drive i would get a pair of noise canceling headphones... not sure that sounds all that safe though..

Re: Wind Noise
I just drove the car for a few miles with the rear 1/4 windows open all the way. Engine racket, fortunately the little engine is fitted with an original-type muffler, took over from wind noise, which is only slightly more pleasant. Actually it turned out to be my best drive so far in the little car, with the rear windows open (It's warm here today) it's very hard to determine the source of the remaining wind noise. Now I have to remove the driver's door window in order to replace the window wiper seal...

Re: Wind Noise
I'm pretty sure the wiper seal can be installed without removing the glass. Lube and slide from the rear of the chrome strip.

I have had one or two of those slide out just as easily and disappear. When I get around to replacing the missing one I’ll use some glue at the end.

Re: Wind Noise
Hey! It worked! I took off the small deflector on the window frame, and that gave me just enough room to get the old seal out. I installed the new seal, using lots of silicon spray, and I have overlap at each end. Will the seal shrink over time, or do I trim it?

Re: Wind Noise
I leave the rubber long for a while then trim it. It does shrink a bit.

Re: Wind Noise
I think your deflector will keep it from sliding back out. Mine is a cab, so no deflector or window frame.

Re: Wind Noise
When I said "overlap" I wasn't kidding! I think that I'll trim the leading edge to fit the frame and leave the back to account for shrinkage. Hmmmm, I wonder if this seal will reduce wind noise? Nah...!Mike Wilson wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 2:00 pm I leave the rubber long for a while then trim it. It does shrink a bit.
