Hey everyone-
Me and Wray were doing some slicing and dicing over the weekend on the 550 rear clamshell. Still haven't figured out what someone was trying to do, maybe they were running a Corvair motor and needed extra cooling or something. It's a mystery.
But I have lots of little aluminum chunks if anyone wants bragging rights for their collection, a real piece of a real 550 Spyder.

Adam, do you know what s/n spyder the part is from? I know 550A-0130 was modified to use a Corvair engine at on point in it's life.

Re: Free 550 Spyder pieces
I guess that you could start with a couple of square inches of "an original Spyder" and build the rest around it ?
Great opportunity to have an original 550.

Re: Free 550 Spyder pieces
That's sort of where I'll end up. So far I have an original hood, doors, belly pan, inner fenders, and rear clamshell. So about half the car will be original metal.David Nicholls wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 3:19 am I guess that you could start with a couple of square inches of "an original Spyder" and build the rest around it ?

Re: Free 550 Spyder pieces
I've got a pretty rust free rolled over 356 C Coupe, I plan on skinning that and loading up the aluminum on it.
