B Coupe rubber replacement

#1 Post by Brian Westmoreland »

Hi all, so doing a full glass rubber replacement on my B coupe. All is well. So,on the side roll up window frame, on the center divider bar-at the top is a bracket, a bent peice of steel that is riveted onto the divider-and held on to the main outer frame with two small screws. Question is, to replace the channel rubber (on the back side of the vent window) do you grind off that rivet. Looks like a tough piece to press in given it's shape.

I can remove the little bracket, but getting a proper and strong metal rivet is a harder problem to solve. A steep pop rivet is not the ticket I assume.

I hope I described this properly..any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you all!

The straight vertical rubber piece can be tucked in with no disassembly. To replace the front piece will require removing the vent window completely. Either way the rivet can stay in.
