Re: PAINT FORMULA 6406 IRISH GREEN
Paul Hatfield and Bill Waite have both repainted their Irish Green C's in the last year or so. I have sent you question to both of them. I know that Bill sprayed a few different mixtures to get her C to the color as his wife remembers it. She purchased it while in college in about 1972. Knowing Paul he may have scanned original to match. https://www.enginesinback.com/blog/getting-paint I am sure both will respond. Somewhere on this site Sebastian Gaeta wrote that talking to Chuck Stoddard about the color of his Ruby Red C Chuck stated that he would get a truck load of them in and all would be a slightly different color. I am sure the same would be true of Irish Green.

Re: PAINT FORMULA 6406 IRISH GREEN
Fortunately, Doug, we didn't have to rely on Carol's memory. All she had to say about it was "you are going to paint it the original color, right?" She purchased our 356C coupe in 1975 and it still had its original paint and from 1982 until 2009 the car remained in storage.
I had purchased a 6406 paint spray card sample from Willhoit (http://www.willhoitautorestoration.com/paintsamples.php. However, when we compared their sample to the door hinge "cover plate" it wasn't "right on" to our eyes. Having been in a protected location, the cover plate was not subject to fading from the sun or other elements.
So, the painter took the original cover plate to his local paint supplier for matching. Unfortunately, I later learned that the shop he used didn't have an very "up-to-date" scanner. Their "match" ended up a bit on the "yellowish green" side compared to the original.
Rather than wasting the paint, I took it to Painters Supply & Equipment Co - here in Grand Rapids (where I should have gone in the first place). Using their "state of the art" scanner, they were able to "tint" the paint to a perfect match with the cover plate. Unfortunately, I don't have a "formula" to offer because the paint was then (in effect) a "custom color."
Hopefully, another forum member can supply a good Irish Green paint formula to Mr. Hancock. Or... is it possible that his car has some removable part that is still in the original paint?

Re: PAINT FORMULA 6406 IRISH GREEN
Well, I am trying to help here, but so far unsuccessful.
When we neared the end of the job, we needed another quart, which we subsequently ordered and used only part of. I am attaching a photo of that can, but it does not have the formula.
I then checked my receipts, and to my surprise, the formula is not on the receipt. It is simply called "Irish Green custom formula" on the receipt.
I have the invoice number and have called and asked for the formula. Hopefully they can recover it. I feel it is a good match.

Just one more thing....
Remember, Irish Green changes A LOT depending on the lighting.
When you are making the necessary comparisons prior to final paint selection, try lots of different lighting.

Debi should be able to find the formula. Here are the torsion bar cover, compared to Pauls B pillar under the door latch, original paint. The paint was perfect under all light.

Re: PAINT FORMULA 6406 IRISH GREEN
After you are done painting, you may also have to match "Fawn" vinyl for the interior. Some Irish Green cars had black interiors, but a good number had Fawn. If you face that challenge, you can check out the "Blog" on my website (shown below my name).
Hope this is of some help. I will post the formula once I have it.

Re: PAINT FORMULA 6406 IRISH GREEN
Jambs and dash on my car are original. I’ve had some paint matched to the Irish green. Lighting makes a huge difference.
Great examples in this post. Sun makes it much brighter and any lack of direct light or any shade makes it look darker. Best bet is and original panel and a good paint supplier.

Re: PAINT FORMULA 6406 IRISH GREEN
Just now got the formula back from PPG. Also, if it helps, yesterday I received my Fawn interior from K&H Upholstery so if you are interested in that, please go to my website and look at my Blog Post of today.

Re: PAINT FORMULA 6406 IRISH GREEN
Paul thanks for the formula. Owned this car for 37 yrs and repainted once before. Down to bare metal and reworking some damage on left side done before I got it. Original Fawn interior except for front seats and carpet which were done by CB&E in late 80s.
