Small World

So I bought a C Coupe out of Lynchburg, VA last weekend. Last on the road in the 80's, not much history on the car. Just a decent C Coupe, Factory Black, matching numbers, but nothing crazy special. Then I pull a Kardex and it comes back as sold by Brumos to a guy in Atlanta. I googled the address thinking I might know where he lived, since I grew up there. The address was for St. Lukes Church, which was my family's church, my grandfather and I used to volunteer at the Soup Kitchen. The original owner was a priest there in the early 60's and used the church address on the Porsche paperwork. I love the little details on cars.

I dug up a pic of my grandfather and my mom. He used to drive around Buckhead and get all the day old bread from all the bakeries and deliver to the soup kitchen. A true giver my gramps!

Adam, your statement "then I pulled a cardex". You make it sound so easy.
Nice story, It is a small world!

Not quite, this is the case on my desk, and no, it isn't full of Kardexes. And if the red phone ever rings, DON'T ANSWER IT!!!!!!

Another fun fact, the desk was my grandfather's when he worked at American Thread during WWII.

Your Priest was the original owner?! These weren't exactly cheap. No wonder there was an extra round of collections? I'm kidding! The guy had great taste.

This man of God was before my time. Be he isn't the first holy man with money in the Deep South that I've known. I bought a collection a few years ago that belonged to a priest, there was even a Spyder in the collection. I didn't get the Spyder.

A priest in my home town of Windsor, CT owned a silver coupe that glowed in the sun each day that I walked by St. Gabriel's church. That's where I got this lifelong bug about 356s that I can't seem to shake...

My C Coupe was completed on Dec. 4th, has a lower engine number and a lower transmission number, but a higher "VIN" number by about 130 numbers than yours. Both were delivered by Brumos.

Great story! Just renewed my membership for another 3 years - it was "on reserve tank" according to the flyer with my monthly registry magazine. Then when I logged on it said "1 day left"!

Good to be on the forum again to catch little gems like this one, though.

Still driving my sunroof coupe although it smokes a little so might have some oil seepage - will have to check out. Getting some cooler weather so helps when doing this wrenching stuff.

Started resto on my '83 SC - yikes! ;)

Wasn’t there a well know restorer with the earliest North American race car (convertible) that became a priest? Or am I just confused?

One day I was selling my Renault 4CVto a rabbi in Miami and then I got a call from a pastor in Tennessee for my 69 Shelby gt350. I thought it was a joke! All I needed was father (fill in the name) for a 356! This could only happen to me
