Re: Kardex
Well maybe the owner of the Kardex in the 2nd pic is looking! I'd love to find out the codes for the warranty work.

Re: Kardex
Mike, which photo are you referring to?
On the bottom of the cards warranty claims are written in by invoice number and cost in DM's. A diagonal line on US delivered cars means the warranty is cancelled/expired.
Cars up to about 1968 have Kardex cards with the accessories hand-written with a word or two, although during those early times, option codes were used in sales literature and often on dealer invoices. But AFAKI, codes were not used on the cards.
After that, they went to option code numbers for the 911's and which were listed on cards similar to the 356 versions. At some point they started using "computers" and produced car listings on early wide computer machine-run forms, in binder form. At the point only codes were used for options on each car.

Re: Kardex
Mike Wilson,
The warranty repair code is in the labor/time book listed with each repair "flat rate" time.

Re: Kardex
Mike, maybe all these years I was mistaken about the numbers on the bottom of the card being invoice numbers for a warranty claim. However, I never compared the numbers from one card to another cards to look for repetitions. Why do you think those are some sort of warranty code for specific repairs?

Re: Kardex
Hi, Brad:
I've got a copy of the Kardex my car and have seen several others. The section I think refers to a code are listed under
Gewahrleistungs Antrage which translates to warranty request. It may be an erroneous assumption on my part but comparing my Kardex to others shows different numbers.

Re: Kardex
+1 - Tom Tate
My "needle in the haystack" just found a beginning of my roadmap to finding new ways to ownership history on my little 356 with thanks to member Tom. Kardex received on 220499 65C Coupe in less than 1 week. Quick, easy! Thanks Tom for great service, I think I'll get the Kardex on my 911SC next while the door of official Porsche build info is still open. Truly the birth certicate of our vintage Porsches.

Re: Kardex
Kardex is absolutely the best way to truly identify your 356. That "certificate of authenticity" from Porsche is now, without engine transmission information, virtually a useless glamor shot. The guys here that get the Kardexes are real heroes in my book

Re: Kardex
Bob, check with one of the members who can get a Kardex copy as listed in the comments earlier in this thread. David, Tom, etc. Send one of them an e-mail through the contact button and go from there.

Re: Kardex
Karlin Porsche stopped using the Kardex system long before your 911SC was built. I believe about 1969. So there will be no Kardex for your 911 SC.
