Kardex

#1 Post by Joseph Chabot »

Anyone have updated source/way to obtain copy of Kardex. Recent COA obtained for my German delivered 54 Coupe kind of a waste for the money, as contained little information on the car that I didn't already know (Does not even contain original engine serial number). Last posts I can finds on the subject are from 2016.

I've seen a few Kardexes for early 356's and most are pretty slim on info. It seems that later ones had more info. Still, the Kardex is the best document you can get now.

+2 on David. 3 working days and Canadian$ so mine was about $183 USD A pleasure to deal with. I had a COA so knew most but Bonus for me was original owner's name was on Kardex. And I had only been able to trace back to 2nd owner.

David, certainly and there are some others on this site who can get it for you and very reasonably. No 356 owner should be without a Kardex. The stuff Porsche provides these days is virtually worthless, and getting worth than worthless

I've not heard that a Kardex is still available on our 356's. Since Porsche has not been providing this info for years now, I can only presume David and the " others" posting on this forum topic have successfully obtained the orginal Kardex (s) with the first owner's name included? While I don't expect having the first owner's name and selling dealer will bring much discovery, it would at least in my circumstances provide me with a starting point and perhaps could track forward from the starting point, something I would find encouragement in possessing.

Kardex were warranty cards and are still in Porsche's possession. Some, however, know people who have access and can obtain a copy. David is a past President of Upper Canada Region of PCA. I believe Adam@Unobtainium has a Source. So does Elevenparts in Switzerland. There are other sources as well. Some Kardexs have very little information. Some have quite a lot.

Depends upon who you are buying it from. Contact the seller for the info.

I was in the Porsche archives last week but I was not allowed to check the original kardexes in detail. I was very close though... luckily I already have a copy of mine.
