Front Closure Panel Door Hinge Area Interior

Good Afternoon 356C Friends,
1964 356C Karmann Coupe
I need some help with how the two vertical sheet metal area under the outer center longitudinal between the front closure panels and the door hinge post get rebuilt. See the area that I am referring to in the left drivers side and right pass side that I have attached and circled in the photos. I still have a very small flat rusted horizontal edge of the sheet metal that might be the bottom closure and the answer to my question.

Do the two vertical sheetmetal panels get extended a few inches down to bottom of hinge and then closed off horizontally with a bottom narrow closure panel between the two vertical panels?

I was hoping that some one might have a photo of this area and how this area is repaired before I install the outer center longitudinal and the front closure panels.

Any description or photo will be much appreciated.
