Bosch horn front grills

#1 Post by Vincent Gillespie »

Hello, I have looked at the usual sources for spares but can't find one of the front grill covers to repair the original horn on my car. Before I try and repair this one, which won't be good with my poor excuse for welding, does anyone have a source for these?
Thanks
V

Looks like you need to replace that Vincent. =)

And I assume this is not for the '55? The original horn on that car would not have been this one.

Hi James, I'm glad you agree that it is just a teensey bit to far gone for reuse as is!
As is usual you are spot on it's from a '60 I put to one side years ago and I'm trying to rescue, it keeps me from having idle hands!

If the horn mechanism itself (esp., the capacitor) can be restored, the grilles should be relatively easy to obtain. I bought a bucket of these horns for $10 and made 2 perfect working horns from them.

Thanks for the advice, it made a noise before I took it apart but it's a good idea for me to see whether it still works before I go any further.

Your climate might be a tad drier than here as I've found no buckets of horns yet.
