It all started in 1959 when I sold my 56 Healey and bought a 58 Speedster.
I was 23 it seemed that most owners were old farts.
Now I are one and have been active all these years. Was 84 last month.
I've noticed that I'm rapidly deteriorating whilst the cars are being resurrected.

A short version of a long story,
Norm

I bought a rusty B when I was 20. Still addicted at nearly 66, on my third 356.

Norm, if you and I were as valuable as these cars have become, some good looking chicks would see to it that we were properly "restored". (You've got me beat by a year.....)
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

I think I bought my first 356,a '56 coupe, in 1976 or 1977. Then bought my '58 cab in 1983. Took over a year to get each one restored and running.
Sold the "56 to my wife's brother about 1987. Big mistake! Still have the '58 cab at the age of 74,working on getting my '69 XKE roadster back together and drivable.

At what age does old fart begin? I am 62 and found my 62 B Coupe 20 years ago.

Bought my 55 Speedster in 1965, It has been with me every since and is and has been the only 356 or Porsche I've owned. Now at 74yrs. of age I still enjoy driving it and Grand kids love getting riders in it and have had fun giving home coming queens rider around the track at high school home coming games and events.

Bought my 64C coupe in 1976 for $1800 from a gas station lot in Houston. It was in sad shape, but with a new cheap silver paint job, and was the first 36 I ever saw in Houston. Forty-three years later, at age 75, I've still got it. Over the years I've put a lot of sweat equity and money into it, but it's now in the best shape it has ever been in. I also have a very nice 65C coupe that I bought from a fellow Lone Star 356 Club member in 2000 for a price I could not refuse. I've gotten a lot of enjoyment from both of these cars, especially on cross-country trips.

My history is a lot like George Walling's. I bought my '58 Speedster in '66 when I was 24. I still have it and it's more fun than ever and yes we still get wet in the rain.

Ha! Reminds me when I worked in Atlanta and took one of my secretaries out to lunch in my "fake" Speedster back in the '80's. On the way back, I timed it just right such that the Rainbird sprinklers on the adjacent lawn shot into her side as we rounded the corner to the office on a nice sunny afternoon with the top down (no, not her top, I wish!) I remember the side curtains were just about worthless in the rain. It quickly became my fair weather only car and I rarely put the top up.
