BLAUPUNKT RADIO REPAIR

#1 Post by Michael Banchero »

I am looking for a radio repair shop in the San Francisco bay area.
I just need a plug soldered. Someone told me this weekend but I forgot to write it down. Ski?
Thanks for your reply,
Michael

we actually send all of our Blaupunkt radios to Matthias Klaussen in Germany, does a superb job repairing and rebuilding these units.

Not practical to send it all the way to Germany to have a plug soldered. If you know where the wire goes and you have the plug, any electronic shop should be able to do it (if you can't solder it yourself....). Practice on something cheap and then give it a go.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

You might try these folks they are in Marin County. They have been discussed on the list before, you might try to research them here for more.

These guys in Marin wanted $1000 just to look at it, and I just gave $1000 to Hernan in L.A. who supposedly “repaired it”. I don’t know what Hernan repaired, but it sure as hell wasn’t my radio..

Where have all the good honest people gone?

Re Hernan, I sent mine to him twice, still didn't work. Some say Radioman in San Diego is good.

+1 on Radioman in San Diego. Bear in mind though, that fixing these radios is gradually becoming a lost art and the cost of repairing them will keep going up.

[quote="John Lindstrom"]These guys in Marin wanted $1000 just to look at it”

They say on their website:

“Here’s how it works: you ship us your radio, we carefully examine it to determine necessary service and cost. For this we charge $50.00. Generally, our estimates include additional options, providing cosmetic touch-ups, etc.. If you have the work done, this examination fee is applied to the total service cost”

I haven’t used them yet, but they quoted me $800 to completely go through my non-tube Becker Europa with a five-year guarantee

Matthias installs new capacitors when he refers plus adds a switchable removable plug to play your phone through the radio, and installs a new case, all for far less than 600 bucks!

I know that Palo Alto Speedometer does some radio repair, but to what extent and which models I do not know. I have no radio repair history nor any affiliation with them. They reworked my speedo and tach.
Please let us know whom you choose and the result of your experience. I will need to get my radio done and will be curious to hear about your experience.
