Thanks for the comments Richard. Yes, that is the single biggest order I have seen from a private individual so far. The high-end restorers have placed some orders that were larger, but you hold the record for an individual. The business is greatly appreciated.
And yes, the work you are doing on the car and engine is very nice. Great to see such care being taken.

Richard, you are doing a fantastic job. My first Speedster was a '58, same color combo as yours. Beautiful when I got it, not so beautiful when I traded it off a few years later. Unforgetable memories, but I hope yours isn't the same car. Us kids tended to be a kinda rough on old sports cars back then!
I never wrote down the #, so don't know the exact mfg date, but it also had the TOCV (thermostatic oil control valve) like yours. And Zeniths, but with silver "sparrow catchers" (as Ron LaDow calls 'em) air cleaners. I also don't remember "super" hubcaps on any Speedsters, but it was a long time ago...

Stunning car, Richard. Wondering if the configuration of the rubber at this juncture is documented? Pretty much every Speedster I have ever seen is different. I consulted the late Tim Goodrich who provided the way that he configured the interfaces between the various seals to prevent water from getting into places it does not belong. Many restored Speedsters have gaps that actually collect water rather than prevent its ingress.

Thanks Steve.

I asked my restorer who replied he worked off a period detail photo. Some sealant applied to gaps as needed.

I'm with Steve Procter on the intersection of the windshield frame and cowl strip at the windshield post. Very complex interaction of all the pieces and no easy installation. I have the benefit of having the vintage cowl strip rubber and frame rubber of two speedsters # 84786 and #83498 and the rubber looks like the rubber in the attached photos. The cowl rubber goes all the way to the chrome frame and the frame rubber sits on top of the cowl rubber. By the way Richard, I think you got the SIGLA logo right. I have a SIGLA “Made in Western-Germany” speedster windshield from the ‘80’s with the SIGLA logo in that location. My disclaimer is that I am no expert, but I think I'm pretty darn close in my assessments.

Luckily most Speedsters don’t have to sit in the rain very often.

These details are what makes our hobby interesting! How many people would really care? So thank you.

So many details on this car are so good as so much attention to period detail was thought through. I’m really happy with it.

Here the bottom part here goes all the way on another original. There was some variation. Like everything else Porsche it just depended based on the circumstances.

I agree with Brooks in that all the known original unrestored speedsters I have seen had the seal but-up to the chrome plated frame and cover the windshield seal. Richard, have you discussed this detail with Don? I am sure he will have a good perspective on it

That was the original intent, but as it got tighter it got shorter. It is being addressed at this point, much like the Sigla bug. The focus and attention to detail of the restorer is absolutely second to none; and it was his idea as this got installed last week to change it so I jumped the gun posting it.

And yes, Don is on board. That's his photo I posted above that showed the rubber going further to the post as an example. He has seen an original car where one side was one way and the other different, as while the factory intent may have been clear, the execution during build could be different.

Again,I appreciate the attention to this often obscure details and probably I was premature posting non reviewed photos, but it's nice to get feedback and share the work in progress too. There are obviously thousands of details in getting this right. For example, the type of detail that has been attended to versus original photos and examples on the under carriage would astound you.
