Anyone catch any detail that needs to be more authentic?

Several, but the sigla bug on your windshield is the biggest one that stands out.

Did the A engines have the L clamp on the back of the fan shroud for the fuel line?

Re: 1600S engine getting close
No, because the line is solidly mounted to each carb and the fuel pump. No flexible hose allowing line to wiggle around, requiring a brace.

Thank, Craig, I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure.

Alas, it’s what is available new. What should it be? (Is there a thread on differences). Interested in hearing more. Should have made in west Germany I assume. What is the best source for the correct? Or etching if someone has the template? Judging by the picture in post #20, that is not a 1600 S. Therefore the 1600 SUPER script in post #21 would not be appropriate. I can put you in touch with someone who can fabricate a 1720 SUPER DUPER script, or whatever is appropriate, if you wish.Richard Emerson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 11:50 am Anyone catch any detail that needs to be more authentic?

I want to sincerely thank everyone else for their constructive comments. Obviously I am trying to do the best in restoring it as I can. I seek the wisdom of people here to restore it as accurately as possible.
I have almost universally found those involved in Porsche 356’s to be generous in their time and sharing of knowledge. I hope to reciprocate that as much a I can too. There are many that have been absolute gentlemen and I’m deeply in their debt.

Re: 1600S engine getting close
We have reverted to a clear windshield and are getting the appropriate template made to etch in the correct logo. My restorer was aware of this and I jumped the gun but the visibility of what’s new was too glaring to ignore.Joris Koning wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 12:23 pm Several, but the sigla bug on your windshield is the biggest one that stands out.
Hopefully it will be done properly within two weeks.
Thank you again for your help pointing this out.

I want to thank Paul Hatfield for pointing out the amazing historically accurate fan belts that he makes, which I gratefully am purchasing for this car and it’s spare in tool wrap.

We got a template for the original sigla bug (thanks for the help Don!) and am having it lightly sandblasted on so the windshield should be perfect.

Engine waiting to be tested and installed.
(And yes it’s a 1720 now)
Any insane detail missed? No matter how small please!
(Paul’s fan belt hasn’t been installed yet but it will be)
Three clip air cleaners.

I think Paul said I was the biggest single order of his fan belts, or maybe that was Road Scholars? I love 356’s though! And once he stops making them do they become unobtainable?
They are great looking in case anyone wants the perfect period look. Tool kits too. There are mainly A’s here, though four are for B’s and C’s.
