Woodstock - 356

#1 Post by Bob Watts »

Any of you remember seeing the 356 toward the beginning of the Woodstock TV special? Details?
Any other Woodstock stories?
(Probably you are too young (or too old!) to remember Woodstock.)
I wasn't there.

We were there. My 6-months pregnant wife, I, and our youngest daughter "in utero" who was born that November. I had ordered tickets by mail to hear what looked like a great program. Drove from Ramsey, NJ to where we could drive no further. Parked our '57 Bug in a field and started to walk, following the crowd. Skies were dark and threatening. After walking a while we noticed that almost as many people were walking back to where we had come from as were walking towards the concert. Skies were darker and more threatening. We did an about-face, joined the crowd walking in the direction from whence we had come, pulled the seats out of the Bug, slept, and drove back home.
Meanwhile, our ten-year-old and five-year-old were at home watching Woodstock coverage on TV and wondering if they'd ever see their parents again.

CNN aired a 50-year special on Woodstock last weekend. Among many others they interviewed the couple who are on the cover of the album, Nick and Bobbi Ercoline. They've been happily married for 48-years.

Still have these. As you've seen they were never collected. Check out the price … highway robbery!

I viewed the Woodstock at 50 special and did catch a quick glimpse of two 356 coupes side by side with a couple guys stretched out on each one catching some Zees. My original album has gotten some play time lately and the peace sign sampler I made hangs in my home office. I marked my calendar a while back and did wear a tie dyed tee while vacating in Yellowstone on the 15th in honor of the great music of that time period. Too bad surf music has not pasted the test of time as well!

Yes, Hugo, that is the car I saw. I didn't see the other two Porsche's. Lots of VW's.
Thanks, everyone for your comments.

A friend once told me that he drove his T-6 B green coupe to the event but had to leave it for a few days on the side of the road. He found it just as he found his date who he lost for more than a day.
