New 6V regulator output voltage adjustment

The New 6V voltage regulators sold by Sierra Madre, Automobile Atlanta & others.

Anyone know how to adjust the output voltage.

What's inside, contacts as with the originals or ?

Reading the ad, if you remove the cover, you invalidate the 1 year warranty. I get the feeling the insides are the same. The ad further states it's already calibrated.

Max - these regulators leave a lot to be desired, I have a couple of my customers that bought one, the first customer his wife called him at work and shared that their garage smelled of smoke when he got home the smell was coming from his engine compartment, the regulator points welded together and the entire regulator was so hot he had to use gloves to get it out, the other customer had charging issues. I'm sure not everyone has issues but they are pretty lightweight units, I have photos that I'Il share if interested. Buy a Bosch Black box unit and be confident that it's the Heavy Duty real deal.

There are numerous inexpensive 6volt Big Black regulators being sold lately. I bought one from the local farm implement store, for a 53 Caterpillar tractor, looks just the same as the Bosch except for the BAT terminal is in the center position instead of the right. My friend has had one on his tractor for years, current limiting at 27 amps and 7.2 volt max. $27.50 Made in USA with a GM/Delco logo
I just put in a 200watt "C" generator and needed to up grade the current output from 160, so far everything is good.

Here’s the schematic for wiring this voltage regulator, very different wire placement then the Bosch unit. Be careful all you DIY mechanics

Doug maybe your customer wired it wrong ? Easy to do.

Steve, please give more information about these regulators.
Like part numbers so I could order from the net as I’m not in
the US.

Be very careful what you buy. The identical looking voltage regulator is also sold as a positive ground regulator and that will NOT be compatible.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Make sure of what you are buying, as some have mentioned not all are comparable. I bought mine and it was part number Caterpillar regulator 8F3333. 3 terminal, Delco-type. Also it has a current limiter that is a bit higher than the original, 36amp cutout at 7.1 volts. That is like 255 watts, a 160 watt generator will put that much out for a short period of time before overheating. A 200 watt generator is marginal at that output. Make sure your battery is full charged and on a trickle charger before using this regulator. With H-4 headlights of 65 watts each high beam, other (non LED) lights of at least 35 watts, fogs of 45 watt, and 6to12 converter it's possible to pull a load of 230-250 watts at 7 volts. LED conversation for tail, dash and parking lights can save about 25 watts.
