356C Fuel Tank Tar Board

#1 Post by Greg Carter »

I’ve got a late build (March ‘65) Karman 356C. It appears the gas tank was restored / repainted prior my purchasing the car and there is no tar board / sound deadening material on top.

I thought I’d read somewhere that later 356C cars didn’t have the tar board on the tank but I have yet to see a late 356C without it.

Based on the manufacturer and build date, should my car have the tar board / sound deadening on the fuel tank?

Several old threads including this one: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=40836 Unless you have and removed the original tank you can't be sure if it had the covering. Most seem to have had it but documented original cars without it also. Unless someone has a factory bulletin stating covering stopped-which I doubt exists -then the choice is yours to make.
