Actually I would be tempted to do all 4 since the car hasn't had much done to the brakes in 28 years. https://www.pmbperformance.com/brake-calipers.html Probably wouldn't take much more time-just more Money.Cheaper than bodywork though.

What type of replacement calipers are you using? A friend had a problem similar to yours and the aftermarket product was bad.

Original calipers.

Considering PMB. Total cost for 4-caliper restoration is $788 which includes shipping and handeling.

It's been too many years, rebuild all four.

Cheaper than a new set of golf clubs.

If the piston's face relief isn't set to the proper 20 degree angle, the pad(s) could get uneven thickness
or cock-eyed causing the piston(s) to cock in the caliper's bore.
Pad minimum thickness will do the same, but if there's a lot of thickness (checking w/a mic), I've milled
them flat to even thickness. Also, if 1-pad is worn more then the other, that piston is stuck.
Be sure the caliper's bore is cleaned @ the 1st 1/4"--that's where the "crud/dust" will "stick the piston".

Lots of good suggestions there.
I had a similar problem with the rears of a Porsche 914.
One was reluctant to release, was dragging and getting hot. Compared to the one on the other side.
When I dismantled the Caliper, which is made of cast iron or similar, I found that the brake fluid passage in and out, plus the bleeder line passage , where almost completely blocked by rust. The careful use of a hand held drill cleaned them both out, nicely.
The one on the other side was almost as bad, and would have given trouble sooner rather than later.
Worthwhile doing them both.

we once had a problem with the rear radius arms out of adjustment on a 911 and it affected the corner balance so radically that the car would pull hard to one side when braking.

First, I appreciate everyone's suggestions including the member who caught my spelling error.

Today I sent all four calipers to PMB for restoration.

When I receive/install/test them, I will report back on the results, hopefully this problem will be resolved.

In the interim--could be three weeks, I will be replacing my 25 year old tires, since they are off the car.
