How often should the mounts be replaced? My engine is out being rebuilt and now would be a good time to change the mounts if need be.
Thanks much
Ken

Ken,
If the rubber show some separation from the metal, or are soft from being soaked w/oil, it's time to replace.
Make sure the rubber is a good 1" thick as there were some made years ago (cheap!) which were around
7/8" thick (aftermarket made in India) which tended to lower the engine enough for the rear cover's sealing strip NOT closing the gap to the engine compartment shelf! You get what you pay for.

Just an 'add-on' to what Dick has said.
On the T-6 series, the engines sit a bit lower than the T-2 and T-5 cars. Not sure why, but Carrera guru, Gerry McCarthy pointed this out some years ago.
The seal will close the gap but the engine sheet metal will not be as flush to the shelf as the earlier cars, so don't be alarmed if you see that the engine still sits lower on a T-6, even after renewing the mounts.

I have a way to solve the rear pan/cover's fitment better to the engine compartment/shelf.
I make spacer tubes onto the lower carb pre-heat tubes to raise the pan ends about 3/8" or so.
Thusly, the sealing strip will be sealing the compartment w/1-lip up and 1-lip down.
The left & right side plates aren't effected if they're joined correctly to the pan/plate ends.
