C Accelerator Linkage Connecting Piece
I am looking for a NOS or excellent condition accelerator connecting piece, part number 695.423.135.00. I would like the original rubber piece with threaded ends and not the metal hexagonal piece being sold today by several of our beloved 356 parts suppliers. Anyone have one for sale or know where i might find one? Thanks!!!

Re: C Accelerator Linkage Connecting Piece
I just did a quick Google for the part. I found the hexagonal puece you mentioned but more common are the metal-clad rubber ones. I'm assuming you are striving for originality. The only suggestion I can offer is perhaps cut the metal jacket off the one now offered for sale.
I also looked for 5mm rubber couplers but came up short. Maybe check with McMaster Carr and others. Another solution might be to fabricate one with original dimensions using a durable rubber and a threaded 5mm insert. That way it may look original but will be less prone to fail.

Like Mr. Wilson said, buy the metal jacketed connector and hacksaw the metal jacket off. The original rubber coupler is what is inside. Or at least is was 10 years ago.

With any kind of luck, when the rubber fails, you can end up wiring the two parts together on the side of the road as quite a few of us had the pleasure of doing, lo these many years ago!

Hugo You can see an original rubber one that was safety wired in this link with photo by John Lewenauer: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1254&p=5530&hilit=a ... ctor#p5530 They weren't safety wired from the factory and when the rubber broke down and they split you were stranded on the side of the road.

Looks too short but probably there are longer ones.

The one pic (695.XX) is a simple connector available at a good hardware store. No vibration dampening. This one from Stoddard saves you the trip to the hardware store.
The 911.XX is the modern version of the 356 rubber dampener. These new ones can be purchased for 12 dollars (non Porsche labeled) or 123 dollars (with Porsche label). Even Stoddard says they appear to be the same thing. I bought the 12 dollar one.
