Road America 2019 356 Racing Video

#1 Post by C J Murray »

Vic and I were racing in a group of around 50+ cars. There were some Sports Racers in the group like Lotus 23s and many different Production Racers like us. Unfortunately a Jag E-Type punted a Lotus 23 driven by Doc Bundy in turn 1 and shortly after that an Elva Courier and another Lotus 23 came together at Canada Corner causing a double yellow and stopping our race. I failed to get aggressive enough early enough and got passed by cars that I may have passed later if the race had gone full length. Both incidents involved two cars that technically were not racing against each other but we all race any car that is near us so you can't really blame them. Too bad it cut our race in half. This video has lots of 356 action and a 2.0 911(with light gray fuel cell) for good measure. Enjoy!

WOW! Thanks, Cliff. It's hard to remember what happened where. Good run.

Me too! Even when I was much much younger I forgot what and where things happened on the track. I envy people who can remember every detail.

Good driving by you too.

Gee, thanks. Did you like my slalom between Van Zelst and Balbach?

Bloody Hell! simply amazing, what a way to get an adrenaline rush with my breakfast and I'm sitting in my computer room! That green car made me jump a couple of times. Thanks, I think, I need to lie down.

Nicely done Vic.
# 0 the green weaver would have been a little dinged up in the old SCCA days!

Also a nice run too Cliff.

I always got chastised by an instructor for resting my hand on the gear shift in between shifts as opposed to returning it to the steering wheel immediately. It took a few races to break the habit but it’s far safer.

So it wasn't just me! Both the green car and the blue car seemed to be pretty wide. I was waiting for them to quit playing with each other to deal with them one at a time. The big clod Vic just punched straight through! Good job Vic! I ran out of time using my plan. :(

100% right! My car was jumping out of gear and I was a bit nervous. It has a VW trans and I am learning that the linkage is critical or they do that. They actually require some fore and aft slop or they jump out. Possibly I have some frame flex also. I'm working on that.

This is the first time I used my new GoPro Hero 7 Black. It sure is better than the Hero 3 White that I was using. Technology marches on!
