The original iron distributor had a piece of material isolating the points spring arm from the body of the distributor, and the centrifugal weights pivoted on a thin fiber washer. I think these are nla.. What is a suitable substitute.
Thank you

Re: rebuild iron distributor
There are kits to use in refurbishing these fine, well engineered units. These kits are offered by several of our vendors, look in the vendor section, for them.

Re: rebuild iron distributor
There is no listing in the Stoddard catalog as in prior years. What other vendors would have these parts?

Re: rebuild iron distributor
Victor,
These are made of "fish paper" but many have improvised with cardboard, etc. over the years. Cardboard isn't a good idea as it can eventually break down. I've got a bunch made of the correct material. PM me your mailing address and I'll send you a couple.
Cheers,
Bruce

Re: rebuild iron distributor
The parts you are referring to were in a Bosch kit. Old Stoddard number was NLA-602-936-00 which was Bosch 1 237 011 500. The strip only was Bosch 1 231 031 020. These parts were discontinued a few years ago, although you might find by hunting around the internet.
Rather than trying to rebuild your distributor yourself, I would suggest sending your distributor to Bruce Smith for a complete rebuild. He has all the parts and skill needed to do it properly.
