Felt Material Used Under Gas Tank Straps

#1 Post by Tom Scott »

Does anyone know where I can obtain the grayish felt material used on 356 and 356 A gas tank straps?

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps Autos International? There might be an old thread on the topic as well with suggestions for other sources.

Try a carpet supply outfit or an upholstery shop. Since the pads are unseen once everything is in place, I wouldn't worry if the color is a bit different.
Replace the pads under the tank also, as on the pre-A, A and early B cars, these eventually became contaminated with gasoline and hold that scent forever. The under tank pads can be any color, since they will not be seen at all.
