Fuel Pump Base O Ring
I have rebuilt the early style fuel pump on my 356 B. I also ordered a replacement O ring, 999-701-043-50, for the fuel pump base, but it looks different than the original one, still on the base. The old one is probably original, and looks more like a square/flat seal than the replacement ring, and seems to be more of a hard plastic material. I realize that the old one could have become hard and flat over time, I just would like any thoughts or reassurance that the replacement will seal the unit before I reinstall.

Re: Fuel Pump Base O Ring
Your old one started round and pliable. It has since hardened and taken a new shape. No longer capable of doing any sealing.
