New to the forum & a total NEWBIE!

#1 Post by Oscar Godoy »

Hello, my name is Oscar Godoy, I'm 57 years young, live in SoCal and the proud new owner of a 61 B, T5.
I have not taken possession of the car as of yet as it is going through extensive metal work restoration (floor pans) before it can be safely back on the road.

My present plan is to turn this car into a reliable weekend / patina resurrection & not a trailer queen.

Please be patient with me as I am sure to have (post) many newbie questions in the next few months. My first plan of attack will be a full brake job, as well as, getting the suspension up to part.

Oscar,
Welcome, youngster! Two drink minimum, but worth it. Noobs never get a hard time; that's reserved for the old farts who should know better.
Regardless of your questions, there are still enough of us who have told the grave diggers to come back later to provide a LOT of information; ask away.

Oscar,
Let me second the welcomes.

My first Porsche in 1964 was a "62 B coupe, white, like yours. I drove that car daily, in Boston for five years, rallying, autocrossing, and towing my race car on weekends. I did all my own maintenance. I enjoyed every minute of 80,000 miles in it. I think you will too.

Welcome aboard, Oscar. It's a blast and, unless you're George C. Patton, you only go around once so open your wallet!

Dear Oscar,
Welcome to our addiction.
Unfortunately, or not, you will probably find that once you start the "resurrection" there is no stopping, no end point, no finish line.
You will begin to want to replace any repro parts with originals. Once you chrome or replace one part with new, the rest will pale in comparison and you will be forced by your inner-self to bring everything up to that level...little by little, or worse, ...dare I use the word...RESTORATION.
But at least there is this forum for the addicted. We will help commiserate with you.
Good luck and Keep the Faith.

Thank you Mike, I'll keep that in mind, I'm located in Upland, just north of the Ontario airport.

Welcome Oscar.
Drive it like you stole it !
If you feel like a drive, I`m just above you in Lake Arrowhead.
Yes, there is a Riverside Region of PCA. We have a breakfast meeting every 1st. saturday of the month. Drop me a line and i`ll give you the details.
We have a great event in September in Lake Arrowhead Village. Porsche Time Line, and we`re ALWAYS looking for 356`s
We`re also having an autoX at AAA speedway in Fontana at the end of June.
Love to meet you,
