The key words in my post were: The Porsche parts catalogs call for the fuel sender to have DIN 85 but I expected the resulting discussion !

Brad, is DIN 85 the modern version of what I pictured, or something else?

To answer Martin, yes, it looks like the screw in your photo is DIN 85. As in all metric hardware, the spec allows some leeway in the shape of the head of the screw/bolt. In a Google search "DIN 85" will show the variances. With "pan head" think shape of sauce pan; With "Cheese head" think shape of Swiss cheese.

I think these may be original screws for the sender in my '60 cab (sender dated 11/59).

Guys,
I got these Cheese Head screws from Belmetric. They look pretty good to me.
They are zinc plated M5 x 16, not 15 but who is to know??
The one with "patina" I soaked in vinegar for several hours.

Now I need to find aluminum M5 washers...Belmetric doesn't have any that small.

George - The ground wire should be under the smaller screw closer to the center. The blue bullet connector is newer.
