Accelerator pull rod in tunnel

#1 Post by Hugo Karasawa »

How is the accelerator pull rod in the tunnel installed ?
Does it have a guide in the tunnel ?
Or it just hangs from the lever after the pedal and exits at the rear firewall ?

On my '65C there is a "U" shaped hanger that the rod rides in. If I remember right its about 1/2 way from the pedal to the exit of the tunnel. I also think there is a plastic wrap around the "U" to help the rod slide. Can anyone confirm this? I never pulled it out entirely but it must come out the back of the tunnel.

Jim,
It's #18 in the picture, a solid rod.

I’m going through the process on a 65 C. I’ve found two guides, one is at the rear of the tunnel just forward of the shift coupling opening on the left side, the second is at the shift mounting also on the left side. What I’m finding is that, when the cable is in the forward guide the emergency cable tube interferes with movement, cable goes under tube too much friction, above the tube comes out of guide. I’ll be back at it today and when fully sorted will raise my head again. Thought it would be a slam dunk...it isn’t.
Happy upcoming Mother’s Day!

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25514 But on a C I think the throttle pull rod goes in the J shaped tab on the left side of this picture. Not where the arrow is pointed. I grabbed the photo from a link about wiring harness.

Doug,

Are you talking about this J shaped hanger ?

If it is not for the accelerator pull rod, what it is used for ?
