I'm still farting around on my 1600 VW "practice motor" before doing a for real refresh of my 356 motor, which has sat for close to 40 years. A short length of 3/8" drain snake with a kink bent on the end, chucked in a drill, does a good job of reaming out all the carbon and rust crap from inside the tubes. I ran it thru from both ends several times until no more crud tapped out:
I'll give my 356 tubes the same treatment later this spring. Still on track for making Flagstaff in October (fingers crossed).
