Kwik-Lift review

#1 Post by Tom Wavrin »

I have the opportunity to purchase a gently used Kwik-Lift (Kwik-Lift.com) and am interested in Pro and Con reviews from those who have used this lift specifically for working on a 356. Thanks in advance. Tom

I have one and have used for 20 years no problem just make sure the floor jack is low enough to fit under the lifting tub

Thanks, Thomas. Due to space limitations I plan to drop the lift flat on the floor, when not in use, and park the 356 on top of it. Have you used the lift to remove an engine? I do know about the jack saddle clearance issue with the lifting tube.

Yes I have removed an engine, you have to get the car higher then the lift allows using a block between the jack and the lift tube . I started off leaving it flat also but I found out it is easier to just run the car up on the lift it also helps keep critters out.

Which Kwik-Lift model? The ramp or the two/four post?
I had a Back Yard Buddy drive on, four post lift installed last month and have used it for under car service. Extremely well constructed. So far so good.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The drive on ramps with fixed height of 20 inches when raised and moveable crossmember(s) to raise further with jack stands or bottle jacks, if needed.

I love mine. 356 on it now. Even if all you want to do is vacuum out the car the 20" off the floor makes it much easier on your back.

Note, however, that mice still get in to mess with things.

There is an interesting comparison dialog posted on the Corvette Forum regarding the Kwik-Lift vs. the Quikjack. The stability of the former over the latter seems to be a no-brainer to me.
Here's a link to that:
