Re: Battery for 356 SC 1964
There TWO SITUATIONS with led acid batteries that are open. the first is that as they charge they emit acid vapor which stays in your trunk. The second is that as they pass THREE (3) years in life they become weaker which causes an additional load on the generator and more acid fumes to be generated this type of battery should be checked monthly to make sure distilled water is covering the plates. A sealed battery such as an OPTIMA does not emit fumes, does not run low on water and usually has a higher cranking power. On the T-6 cars it is always good for you to check the condition of the ground strap and the cable and connector for the positive conn3ctor. al zim

Battery Tender® 6V, 1.25A Battery Charger $44.95
I have used CTEK and it tended to cause excess electrolyte (water) loss at 6 volts. Have used other makers too that have failed. I have gone full circle back to Battery Tender. I have 3, 1 for deep cycle 12V, 1 for a Vespa 12V and the 6V 356 battery. Water loss is a minimum and I've never a Battery Tender fail. The 6V Interstate 356 battery is 7 years old, seldom requires additional water and works fine.
Battery Tender has changed the outside box from metal to a new design and I don't have experience with the new one. I was in a local store this week and they still had the old design in stock.

Are any of the batteries mentioned sealed as the Optima is?

No Ron all mentioned batteries are lead acid. Other mentions like CTEC and Genius are chargers.
