Weird Zenith NDIX 32

#1 Post by Steve Douglas »

Today I acquired a pair of NDIX 32 Zenith Carbs, with huge velocity stacks. The tops are very weird, not cross bar and side vents, what are they PO2R and PO2L Marked 7.65

Steve,
Similar to the Pre Mat solution for the 36mm Zeniths; the side tubes provide the balance to the ambient pressure. I worked out a safety-wire to make sure that center screw never ended up in a cylinder; maybe overkill on my part. That screw looks to be leaving the right-side auxiliary venturi to its own choices of location.
With 32mm throttle bodies, there was never any documented advantage. With the 36mm throttle bodies, the gain showed up over 5KRPM, but it was there.

Those large single stacks do not work. They did make good brake ducting scoops on the front of my G-Production 356.
The numbers indicate Super, but the 7.65 date should be a C.

Where are they marked 7.65? These are cast with PALLAS mark so they would have originally been pre-1959 (DVG for all later than that).

The date stamping is located vertically on the outside of the body's float bowl.
