Re: Blinker Turn Signals Do Not Work Yet
David, In your photo above it appears that only two wires are connected to your new Blinker relay. The lack of the third connection to the blue dash lamp may not affect blinker operation. However, if this new Blinker relay is an electronic unit rather than an original mechanical relay you should expect that it will need to be connected to a ground for the electronics to operate correctly. Greg's great schematic diagram shows the wiring for the mechanical relay. The replacement electronic units require a connection to ground to operate. They will come with either a pig tail wire for grounding or there will be a fourth .25 inch push-on connector tab for the ground connection. Good luck with your cleaning process. It is the best starting place if there is a possibility of dirty contacts. KTF, Bill

Re: Blinker Turn Signals Do Not Work Yet
I removed the 3 bolts that held the steering wheel assembly and blinker arm in place. I can pull it out about an inch to inspect the wires going to the blinker arm turn signal control. Question: are these wires soldered in on the signal arm device or does it just look that way?
Hard to see inside.
(I was going to remove and clean the wires then put back together)
(I additionally bought a new ground cable from Stoddard as part of my ground check)
Thanks!

Here is a clearer picture of the wires going into the blinker arm unit. Are these soldered or are they removable?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Get yourself a can of CorrosionX spray and soak your switch in the stuff. You can thank me later. (this goes for everybody on this forum)

+1 on soaking the blinker switch. Go to an electrical supply outlet and buy a high end spray cleaner and a can of canned air. Use the nozzles and spray until starts to drip. Dry with the air. Repeat if necessary. This worked for me after hours of chasing grounds and checking connections because a brake/turn signal light worked only intermittently.

Re: Blinker Turn Signals Do Not Work Yet
It takes some fishing to get the wires out along with the switch. They are about 10 inches long and somewhat stiff. A hair drier or heat gun would be helpful to slightly heat and soften the wire insulation if you remove the whole thing.

You can find it on line. Try Amazon. I find 100s of uses for the stuff. It is amazing.

PS: Marine supply stores usually have it in stock.

Re: Blinker Turn Signals Do Not Work Yet
Thanks Jim. I bought a can of corrosion x and caned air. Working on it. Thanks Bill - I will check that ground on the new blinker relay. I am still cleaning and tracing wires. I just bought another blinker relay from Stoddard, maybe that will help.
