Re: What Hardware Is Required To Mount Shoulder Harness in 356C?
Having personally seen hundreds of modern factory seat belt anchor points, I am quite comfortable with the strength of the T6 mount, just not the bolt. The mount is constructed in a fairly similar way to the front upper shock absorber mount. That also is supported only by sheet metal, but in a strong way.

Is there a source for new correct grey belting? Interestingly, today I saw a Volvo 544 with what appears to be the same belting material.

To buy similar grey seatbelt webbing. Various kits available for around $120. I have original factory lap belts per Dr. Johnson but I felt replacing the 50+ year old webbing was ready to go on the shelf.
Etienne (Steve) Kirkhoffs in Netherlands is the member.

Re: What Hardware Is Required To Mount Shoulder Harness in 356C?
Hmmm...impaled on the steering column? Doubtful. The steering shaft would have to push past the steering wheel hub which it butts against, then continue through. The driver's chest would impact the wheel, not the shaft. Not pleasant but far from being impaled. Perhaps if you were speeding at something in the 200 mph range and hit a brick wall. Never heard of anyone who was impaled on a 356 steering shaft, even when seat-belts were not routinely used, let alone three point belts.
Also doubtful the Porsche people would not have done some considerable testing before allowing this anchorage to be used. Nice to be safe but we can't panic to the point of being irrational
Even skimpily built English and Italian cars probably never had any cases of drivers being impaled on the steering shafts.

Geoff i agree for the most part but around 1967 or so cars began to have collapsible steering shafts, so there must be some danger there although I don’t fully understand it.

Impact with a fixed object vs. one that has some "give".

Sorry for the delay. I just got back from a work trip and I don't get good internet service so I couldn't read or reply to the thread.
Thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it. I had hoped to make it to Hershey this year but work commitments have precluded that. If you have the shoulder mounting hardware in question please let me know.
I still haven't ordered any seat belts as of now but was planning to order them and then figure out what I actually needed to make them work.
Thanks again for all the help and suggestions.
Greg

Greg there is also an optional mounting point for the shoulder harness described in the workshop manual. It is on the sidewall into the wheel well. I have a pair of original belts that mount there but am unwilling to put a hole through my new interior.

What size bolt is used in the mounting point for the shoulder harness and seat belts.
Some people say it is a 7/16 fine thread others say it is a 10mm fine thread.
