Lowest Mileage Speedster? (2)

The Speedster went for its first Spring spin today…got the odometer up to 24,725.

I’m building a website at https://356aspeedster.com/. It currently has about 50 photos, but I'll add more detail and artistic settings, if I can find any.

As for my TENTATIVE claim that she’s “the lowest original mileage unrestored 356 Speedster in the world”…

a) The prevailing reaction seems to be, “Then drive it more.” True, will do.
b) I will withdraw this representation when/if another contender arises.
c) I could hide it in a local farm shed for a few years, let the rodents and strawdust have their way, then present it as “25,000 mile barn find.”

Here’s a local barn with local sheep, and my complete kit.

Looks great. Original paint? I think Seinfeld has a ‘59 carerra that may be lower miles. I know of one with 27k miles so don't drive too much.

However, there is rumor of a sub 10,000 mile one.

Yours looks great though so congrats in any event!

Bill I would say lowest mileage speedster known to exist but freshened a bit with the repaint and hence not all original. Looks superb though!!

There is another Speedster with very low miles. I can't remember the exact number, but it came out of Lancaster, PA within the last 2 or 3 years. I seem to remember that it was known to some people in the area and went to auction.

Of course there is also the '62 Roadster with fewer than 5,000 miles, all original including paint. It is also a fairly well known car and located here in Los Angeles.

Nice car indeed. There is an original Speedster in NH with less than 20K miles owned by a gentleman that has no interest in having anyone know about it. It will probably surface in a few years.

Was that car in Ohio in 70s or 80s? I remember a blue 58 that surfaced around then with low miles, was in the showroom at Jaguar Cleveland car dealer for a while. I think they wanted $10,000 or some such crazy price.

Thanks Martin. But no, it was sold by Continental Car in San Francisco in 1958, then purchased by a collector in Prescott AZ in 1978. I bought it in 1990 and brought it to Ohio.

Meissen blue? Are you a 83,xxx or 84x,xxx vin. I'm 83,454 and my car was bought in 1972 from Nor Cal and brought to So Cal. I bet mine was sold by Continental Car as well. But I have no proof. My car is red now, but originally "Meissen Blau"

Ja Jay, 84093, Meissen Blau und Rot. In the 1980s and 90s, many Porsches were restored in red or black. So this one seemed unusual but was original. I just liked it. Then 50s pastels came back in style.
