Porsche crest enamel sign
Hi, a good friend of mine found this great and obviously vintage enamel sign on a local flea market. Any ideas if this is an original one or aftermarket? What's the value of it? Thanks, Robert

Re: Porsche crest enamel sign
Size of the plaque is around 15-1/2" wide x 20-1/2" tall, all the borders & the outlined antlers, the surroundings of the horse, including the vertical & horizontal bars + the Porsche letters are a light yellow. The plaque has 2-1" hooks for hanging on a wall. (Only 13/8" paint-chip on the pointed bottom--easy to repair)
On the rear bottom point is (the name of the MFG) EMAILLESCHILDERVON HALEM GmbH MADE IN CZECH REPUBLIC, and finally Limited Edition Number 0555 /1000/2000.
I also have the German Certificate printed in German & English & authenticaity is guarrenteed by Dr. ing. h.c. F.Porsche AG. Bottom of the sheet is a double-embossed
2-1/2" Porsche over each other--a Boxster ove a 911(Not in color)
One was recently offered for $3,500--but not by me! Dunno if the Certificate was included. BTW, the edition is limited to 1,000 examples.

I meant to say the paint chip is only 3/8"; NOT 1-3/8". (computer-finger glitch)

Dick.
Odd that it is authenticated by Porsche. One of the easiest and quickest ways to spot an obvious non-authentic crest is to look at the right rear leg of the horse. From 1954 to 1994 there was separation from the body of the horse. 1995 onward there is no separation just like on this enamel sign which appears to be much older than 1995...

Dick - obviously you are referring to another type of plaque than the one I had posted. I would be curious to see what you have got- could you post a picture of it?Dick Weiss wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 9:19 pm Size of the plaque is around 15-1/2" wide x 20-1/2" tall, all the borders & the outlined antlers, the surroundings of the horse, including the vertical & horizontal bars + the Porsche letters are a light yellow. Re: Porsche crest enamel sign
I'm with Sebastian on this. Czech was VERY soviet union when these were made originally. I doubt Porsche would have their signs made there back in the day, they would not be able to take delivery. Be very careful with the polish repros, they 'make' them vintage. Nice Post Hijack btw? very confusing who has this sign.

Re: Porsche crest enamel sign
At the time our cars were originally built and even up to 1993, the country was actually known as Czechoslovakia and not Czech Republic, so I doubt the plaque Dick refers to is from that period. Nevertheless, curious to see pictures of it.
The sign described at the beginning of this thread is actually in the posession of a good friend of mine, he is not a Porsche guy. I will make him an offer and am trying to find out what's a fair and reasonable value, pending on its authenticity.
I have g**gled a bit and found two references showing a similar sign, one in a scaringly equal condition with very similar wear (suggesting remake?) and the other one in almost new condition with very attractive description. See below.

Any comments?
