LitMeet / Swapmeet 2019 weekend scores

#1 Post by Trevor Gates »

Ok, I’ll go first. Here are some parts I picked up. An A front bumper I’m going to use for parts, A ashtray knobs (black and snot grey) and the aluminum door inserts for the rubber buffer.

How’d everyone else do?

Edited: for spelling.

Phew, what a week, put 807 miles on the renter all on jammed up LA freeways, but had a great time. Met some distinguished gentlemen, Bob Garretson, El Presidente Mr. Dansby and Rod Emory who reckons my outlaw 356 is going to be pretty good. Didn't score too much at the lit meet but I did get an owners manual for my SSE and at Anaheim picked up a Holley fuel pump, actually for my Cobra. And got a first class upgrade on Virgin for the trip home which was the icing on the cake.
PS saw 'Green Book' on my flight, brilliant movie, don't miss it.

Love those original knobs Trevor. Nothing better than the way the old Bakelite ages.

I’m pretty excited about these workshop manuals I picked up. I recon they’ll come in handy more than a few times here as O assemble my project car.

Hope you made it. Tons to see. Both 356 and other P cars.

Checked out several shops on Friday and Saturday afternoon that do 356 stuff. More than worthwhile.

The LA lit show at the Hilton was great. Lots of stuff. Some unabtanium...and some repro (also good quality).

Sunday at the Phoenix Club. Good P car swap meet and all years P cars on display too. Good event.

Topped it off on Monday with a visit to see the Porsche Effect exhibit at the Petersen. Great exhibit. Wish it had been bigger.

Once again a great weekend! As I tell my Porsche friends, once you attend you will need to keep the first of March open on your itinerary forever! Seemed like the actual lit meet was busier than ever. Either we timed it right or the attendance was down a bit at the dozen open houses we attended. The notable exception was Rod Emory's - That had to be more than triple the attendance of any open house I have been to over the years. It was a bit of a mad dash back down to the European Collectibles open house and it was very apparent that few others made the dash. A much more subdued crowd than I've seen in past years ay EC, but a great display of rare models as always.

Picked up a few treasures in Anaheim. But my favorite was the 356B FRONT brake drum that was heavily discounted due to "Bad Splines". I pointed out the error to the seller but he still sold it to me for a pittance.

All in all another great 4 days getting together with old friends and new ones!
