Re: Full flow oil filtration
To me, pressure lubricated journal bearings all share most constraints.

Re: Full flow oil filtration
Harlan,
These bearings which are immune to the ravages of dirty oil, do they become so upon stamping the magic Porsche part number on them? Or is fitment to the magical 616 engine case sufficient to gain immunity? Or perhaps there's an incantation.
Inquiring minds want to know!

Flat Earthers, Anti-Vaxers, and no full flow oil filter folks live in an alternate world where physics doesn't count.

We did Craig, but on occasion some folks let opinion get a stranglehold on reality......
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

For those with the later "cross drilled", through the rod journal cranks, if you've not done so, when you take it to the machinist, for rework, polish, or cleaning, stay and watch, after the removal of the "soft" plugs, the dirty "particulate", which is cleaned out, with a bore, or bottle brush, and is "centrifuged" out into the extended passage, in these cranks (requiring the plugs, not on 50mm journal cranks), and stand in awe, of what goes through the oil passages, on its way, from the main journals, to the critical rod journals, and the mentioned new rod bearings. This is what we see, on removed bearing surfaces,

''' Oh, in the words of Jack Staggs, "don't try this at home", these later cranks, are likely nitride hardened, and can cause broken taps, etc., "Caveat Emptor",

Re: Full flow oil filtration
Just to add to the discussion I noticed this BAT auction today. An original 64 beetle with a reported 141K miles by the original owner, and the engine has never been rebuilt, and all it has is a wire mesh oil strainer for a filter. Clutch was replaced 43 years ago. I remember having to replace the clutch on my 63 beetle every 10k miles and I never had an engine that went much more than 50K miles. 3 engines in 181K miles but I admit I did have a lead foot back in the 60's.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Well after finding a local place that left me use their tools and with Gary's help I finally developed this part and I've fitted it to my car. Next photo after my next oil changegary koehler wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 11:28 am Al,

Re: Full flow oil filtration
I bought my full flow from Vic, fits nice. i mounted a filter head under the rear of the drivers rear fender and ran lines to it.it relitivly easy to get to for changing the filter. and i can still use my cable drive tack.
