Dual Circuit brakes on a 356C

#1 Post by Robin Walker »

When I fitted a dual circuit brake master cylinder to my 1964 RHD 356C coupe I set the pipes to match the set up on my 1973 911S.
This meant the front brakes were on one circuit and the rear brakes on the other.
One owner of a modified 356C tells me that his brake system is set up in a diagonal fashion more like a modern car.
I appreciate the advantages of straight ahead braking in an emergency, but is this set up common ?
Any thoughts anyone?

Most kits I have seen, including the one I used on my 65C are as yours. Front and rear circuits.

I think you would need a dedicated line to each wheel to make a diagonal system work. Since the rears share the line through the tunnel, I don't think diagonal is possible without running another line. Even after the 911/912 went to a dual circuit, it was front and rear as above.
