Zenith 32NDIX Repair

#1 Post by Sam M. Shiver »

A carb issue has my local mechanic in Asheville NC stumped. Who would you recommend I send my carbs off to troubleshoot and repair?
Thanks

I have used Carburetor Rescue since they opened shop. The best with both workmanship, and service, not to mention too great people running the show. ……………...Jim.

Just got my Zenith carbs back from 356 Carburetor Rescue. They look BEAUTIFUL! They look brand new and the folks there are great to work with. I can't wait to put them in the car. And for those of you here who coached and encouraged me to rebuild myself, after reading Charlie Whites book ( thanks again to Gary Cox for the book) I decided that the carbs deserved the work of the experts, and my time was better spent elsewhere. After I get everything back together and running well I am happy to pass the book along to someone else who needs it. In short, an endorsement for 356 Carb Rescue.

Steve, I put my carbs in the mail yesterday to 356 Carb Rescue---and I'm sure I'll be the latest in a long line of fans when they return. Speaking of that, I don't believe I've ever heard such a unanimous recommendation for a repair service.

All true. I have used CR several times with excellent results

Question: One of the tabs on the 356C Zenith air filter canister broke off. Anybody know how to fix this? Or do I search for a replacement?

Nate:

I had that happen to one of my air cleaner canister. Repair was simple by making a new tab out of sheet metal, punching a hole for spot welding on the smooth area , welding it and then painting it black. It has held for several years now holds the top securely.

Thanks Mickey,

I fashioned a piece of sheet metal last night and used some JB Weld to hold it in place. Once the JB sets overnight I was going to use a rivet (I have no way to spot weld) and then paint it again. Very few used ones can be found on the internet.

Many thanks.

Mine are operating pretty well right now, but may I ask what a rebuild runs?

Good luck. Have you heard the saying that 80% of all carb issues are really ignition problems?

Perhaps also worth posting on here what your problem is?

Good spark at all cylinders. Left-hand carb is receiving fuel but not feeding into the float chamber and onward.

You can go to their website and see their pricing structure, or call. It will depend on what is needed. Mine were $1060 including return shipping.

After battling my Zenith carbs for several years I sent them to Carburetor Rescue a year ago. A couple of months later I got them back, installed them, made no adjustments other than synchronizing them and they are working perfectly. Best investment I ever made on the car. They adjust the carbs on their test engine which means they are ready for action right out of the box.
