Wouldn't your type of pistons dictate that? I have JE pistons so use JE rings.

My last set were Grant. They are fine so far.

The last time I rebuilt it was 1975 with the Japanese "NPR" big bore set. I have long since forgotten what brand rings came with them. Would you know if JE uses the same rings? I haven't torn it down yet to verify the piston design. Just doing some preliminary research during my winter slumber and hope to hit it hard in the Spring.

Considering the difference in rings for the various piston sets, I'd wait until teardown to see which rings you need.
